Vogts is under fire for spending most of his time in Germany

The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has condemned the verbal attack on German coach Berti Vogts by board member Dominic Iorfa.

Vogts was verbally assaulted by an angry Iorfa while conducting a training session for Nigeria's national team on Tuesday.

A visibly furious Iorfa accused the German of turning up late for training and also criticised his appointment as Super Eagles coach.

The incident happened two days after nine board members slated NFA chairman Sani Lulu over his running of the federation and the appointment of Vogts.

The aggrieved members also questioned a clause in Vogts' contract which allows him to operate from Germany.

But NFA spokesman Ademola Olajire condemned the attack insisting that the board will take disciplinary action against Iorfa.

"What happened on Tuesday is totally unacceptable and the NFA will take the necessary action," Olajire told BBC Sport on Wednesday.

"No one sent him there and it was indeed an act of shame.

"He had no business at the training ground and conducting himself in such an embarrassing state is sad for the image of our football.

Olajire said despite the differences within the NFA over Vogts' appointment, the German should be treated with respect.

"There's been so much fuss in the media about Mr. Vogts and the aggrieved board members of the NFA.

"Mr. Vogts has a contract with Nigeria and should be accorded all the respect and support he needs to succeed.

"The board will be meeting soon to discuss the situation concerning Berti Vogts and the perceived discontent on the part of some members."

Meanwhile, Nigeria-born midfielder Sunday Stephen has described his inclusion in Spain's under-20 side as 'a dream come true'.

The youngster, who was ignored by Nigeria's under-20 handlers, was included in Spain's team for the World Youth Championship in Canada later this month.

"It's always been a dream to play at the world stage and thankfully the coach here gave me the platform," Stephen told BBC Sport on Wednesday.

"I have no regrets or whatsoever. I had hoped to play for Nigeria but was never given the chance by the handlers.
