Egypt were preparing for their game against Burundi |
Africa champions Egypt were held to 1-1 by Kuwait in an international friendly in Kuwait City on Tuesday.
The home side dominated the early exchanges with swift counter-attacks led by striker Bashar Abdallah.
Abdallah was fouled in the box by Egypt goalkeeper Essam Al Hadary in the 10th minute and the striker dispatched the resultant penalty kick with aplomb.
The Pharaohs, who were profligate on the night, could have levelled before the break but Mohamed Abou-Treika's long range effort was saved by the keeper.
Emad Meteb and Gamal Hamza were denied by the post after the interval before Mahmoud Abdul-Razak levelled for the visitors in the 56th minute.
The Egyptians were using the game as a warm-up towards their Group Two tie against Burundi this weekend.
But the match has been postponed because Burundi failed to secure accommodation for the Pharaohs in Kigali, where the match will take place.
