Martinez's predecessor Hey quit in a row over money |
The Gambia have appointed Spaniard Jose Martinez as the new coach of the national team.
The Gambian government revealed the appointment of Martinez, who replaces Germany's Antoine Hey.
Hey quit his role after disagreements over his salary.
Martinez has coached several Spanish sides and played for Real Zaragoza.
Hey was appointed to coach The Gambia last September but lasted just six months in the job.
Martinez's immediate task will be to prepare for the Scorpions' Nations Cup qualifier in Guinea in June.
The Gambia lie third in the group at the halfway stage of qualifying.
