Niang had one of his best games in a Senegal shirt

Mamadou Niang bagged a hat-trick as Senegal romped to a 4-0 win over Tanzania in Group Seven of the 2008 Nations Cup qualifiers in Dakar on Saturday.

The Teranga Lions go two points clear in the group after beating Saturday morning's table-toppers in convincing fashion.

Senegal opened the scoring after 35 minutes as El Hadji Diouf floated in a corner which Niang nodded home from close range.

Diomansy Kamara doubled the lead in the 46th minute, crashing the ball home after latching onto Frederic Mendy's pass.

Niang, having one of his best games in a Senegal shirt, rolled the ball into the net three minutes later after combining beautifully with Diouf.

The Olympique Marseille striker claimed his hat-trick on the hour mark before being substituted by Henri Camara.

Earlier in the day, Burkina Faso and Mozambique drew 1-1 in Ouagadougou.

Home fans were stunned when Carlos Simomuro opened the scoring just two minutes into the match.

The goal was Mozambique's first of the qualifying campaign.

But the Stallions responded nine minutes before the break as Jonathan Pitropa levelled the scores.

The home side failed to break through the Mozambican defence again, infuriating their supporters.

The Stallions fans reacted to what they perceived as dropped points by throwing stones towards the visiting players.
