Sani Lulu under fire from angry board members

Civil war has broken out in Nigeria football with the NFA chairman Sani Lulu coming under fire from angry board members over recent appointments.

Lulu has been strongly criticised for hiring Berti Vogts as Super Eagles coach and Bolaji Ojo-Oba as the NFA's new secretary general.

Peter Singabele, one of the 14 members on the NFA board, told BBC Sport that the appointments "do not have everyone's blessing".

He also accused Lulu of "consistently violating" the Fifa-approved statutes of the NFA.

"We have noted with dismay that you are running the affairs of the board as if you are a sole administrator," Singabele charged in an 'open letter' to Lulu.

"The appointment of a secretary general did not receive the blessings of the executive board members.

"The process was not transparent as the consultant who handled the appointment was guided by a powerful force outside the NFA.

"Aside the unlawful appointment of a foreign manager, the changes made in the coaching crew of the national team were done by some cliques running the board.

"You have until seven days to call a meeting or we would not hesitate to proceed with further step to restore sanity in our football as stipulated in line with the statues," Singabele went on.

When contacted by BBC Sport, Lulu insisted that "due process" was followed in his decisions.

"I made calls to Singabele and other board members from London before we proceeded with the signing of an agreement with Berti Vogts and the appointment of Bolaji Ojo-Oba.
