AC Milan are still keen on signing Samuel Eto'o |
Italian club AC Milan have not given up hope of signing Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o from Barcelona. Milan are still looking to acquire a top-class forward for next season after failing to finalise the transfer of Honduras striker David Suazo, who is set to join city rivals Inter Milan from Cagliari.
Thierry Henry's arrival at Barcelona from Arsenal has now increased speculation Eto'o could leave the Camp Nou this summer, with a switch to the English Premiership also rumoured.
Barca president Joan Laporta announced yesterday he intends to keep Eto'o and the player himself has said that he wants to stay at the club.
Despite this Milan president Silvio Berlusconi still has a glimmer of hope that Eto'o will join them this summer.
"We hope to find a player suitable for the standards of Milan," said Berlusconi.
"We are already champions of Europe and we expect a lot from Ronaldo this season.
"We will have to wait and see about Eto'o."
