Ogbuke is an outstanding talent |
Nigerian striker Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke has agreed a deal to join the Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow for US$4.8 million.
The 20-year-old, who plays for the Norwegian club Lyn Oslo, met officials of Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday after his club agreed a fee for his transfer.
Ogbuke is expected to seal the deal in Moscow on Thursday.
"It is another big step in my career and I look forward to the challenge," Ogbuke told BBC Sport.
"I've had a wonderful time with Lyn and the club will always have a special place in my heart."
Despite reports linking him with a move to the English side Arsenal as well as German clubs Hamburg and Werder Bremen, Lokomotiv Moscow were the only side to have met Lyn Oslo's financial demands.
"The move to England fell through due to the work permit hurdle," the player's agent John Ola Shittu told BBC Sport.
"The other offers from Germany and France were not firm either but Lokomotiv matched the transfer fee demanded by Lyn."
Ogbuke scored nine goals in 17 appearances for Lyn Oslo as the club finished seventh in the 2006 season.
He won the 2006 Young Player of the Year award in Norway.
The former youth international has three caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
