Football's world governing body Fifa said it is encouraged by reforms undertaken by the Nigerian federation but was watching closely to see how they were implemented. "We are happy Nigeria followed the road map we gave them for their elections (in August)," Jerome Champagne, Fifa's Delegate of the President for Special Affairs, said .
He added that Fifa is still waiting to see whether officials repeal within six months as promised a decree giving absolute power to the Nigerian Football Association's secretary-general.
Meanwhile Champagne also pointed out that the Algerian Football Association remains under the spotlight.
"In Algeria, the sports minister controls all federations by appointing 30 percent of their executive committee members," Champagne added.
"We have told the government we cannot accept that in football. The rule is not being followed at the moment, but, again, we are watching the situation there."
