Bhamjee quit after a ticketing scandal |
Nigeria's Amos Adamu will take his place on Fifa's executive committee eight months ahead of schedule. This follows the resignation of Botswana's Ismail Bhamjee, following his involvement in a ticketing scandal at the World Cup.
Adamu, who is also an executive member of the Confederation of African Football, (Caf) was supposed to have begun his four-year term in May 2007, when Bhamjee was to have completed his tenure.
But Bhamjee's decision to quit his Fifa position ahead of time compelled Caf's executive committee to decide that Adamu take up Bhamjee's place immediately.
He is expected to attend his first Fifa executive committee meeting on 15 September.
