Senegal defender Lamine Diatta is set to join St Etienne from French champions Olympique Lyon on Wednesday subject to a medical.

The 31-year-old is poised to sign a two-year contract after Lyon agreed to allow him to leave on a free transfer.

Lyon have let Diatta go at his request, with the Senegalese having expressed a desire to spend more time on the pitch.

The Dakar-born centre half played in only 13 of Lyon's 38 league matches last season as the team won its fifth straight championship.
