Togo suffered a first-round exit at the World Cup |
Espoir Assogbavi, the general secretary of the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) and three members of the board quit their posts on Thursday. Winny Dogbatse and Theodore Amegran, the first and second vice-presidents, as well as treasurer Tino Adjete, also resigned.
Dogbatse told BBC Sport that a difference in opinion with FTF president Rock Gnassingbe, president of the federation, has left them with no choice but to quit their posts.
"After what happened in Germany, we do not think that we are in a position to continue with the federation. It is better for us to leave," Dogbatse said.
Togo's maiden World Cup campaign, which ended in the first round, was marred by a dispute between the FTF and its player over bonuses and allowances.
This compelled Fifa to intervene and promise to pay the allowances out of Togo's $5.6 million World Cup appearance fee.
While Dogbatse admitted that he and his colleagues were unhappy with the management style of the FTF president, he said they were taking collective responsibility for the problems affecting the national side.
"We are all responsible. What has happened is not just the president's fault alone. We were a divided group.
"We had a problem of communication between the officials and the players and we should have solved our problems before reaching Germany."
