Csaba has a four-year deal with Uganda

Hungarian Laszlo Csaba has signed a contract to manage Uganda's national team.

Csaba, who was presented to the media at a news conference on Monday, will be in charge of the Cranes for the next four years.

The 42-year-old replaces Serbian coach Tomislav Sivic, who quit the job as a result of a contractual dispute.

Lawrence Mulindwa, president of the Uganda FA, refused to disclose the amount they would be paying Csaba but he said the government will contribute towards his wages.

Csaba, the former coach of Hungarian club Ferencvaros, is expected to help Uganda qualify for the 2008 Nations Cup finals, after a 28-year absence.

They last appeared at the 1978 tournament, losing to hosts Ghana in the final.

"I am so happy to get this job in Africa because it is a new challenge and I want to achieve something in Uganda," said Csaba, who will also coach the Under-23 side.

Mulindwa said they are confident that Csaba has the ability to revive the flagging fortunes of the national team.

"He is a good coach and we believe that if he gets the deserved support we should qualify for the Nations Cup."
