 Pienaar returns after a four-month absence |
South African midfielder Steven Pienaar has played in his first game for the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam in four months.
Pienaar featured for Ajax in their 6-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday.
He suffered a knee injury in December which forced him out of the recent African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.
The midfielder played for only 70 minutes.
Coach Danny Blind revealed he would have preferred to have rested Pienaar for a few more days, but was forced to use him due to his injury-stricken squad.
Pienaar will leave the Dutch outfit at the end of the season to join the German giants Borussia Dortmund with whom he has signed a contract.
