Sundowns will play in the Champions league next year |
Mamelodi Sundowns won their first South African title in six years on Saturday.
Their goalless draw with runners-up Orland Pirates in the season's final round ensured their title win.
Pirates needed a six-goal victory to catch up with the Pretoria-based club and pip them on goal difference.
But the match proved only a precursor for a Sundowns' celebration in front of 40,000-strong crowd at Mabopane, outside the capital.
It was Sundowns' seventh title but their first in six years.
They will bid for a double next Saturday when they face long-standing rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Cup final.
Chiefs finished third in the league.
Sundowns and Pirates will represent South Africa for a second successive year in the 2007 African Champions League.
