Steven Keshi is unhappy with Togo's preparations for the Nations Cup |
Togo coach Stephen Keshi has blamed his side's early exit form the African Cup of Nations on poor preparation. "We only went into camp five days before the tournament to prepare, which to me is useless," Keshi told BBC Sport.
Keshi's point was echoed by Hawks' defender Eric Akoto.
"Our preparation for the tournament was poor and it is the main reason why we performed badly," Akoto explained to BBC Sport.
He also said that Adebayor's initial clash with Keshi before and after the team's opening game against the DR Congo also contributed to the downfall of the team.
"Adebayor is the star player in the team and his problem with coach Keshi was a big problem for us, as it affected us on the pitch and psychologically," admitted Akoto.
Keshi, however, remained philosophical.
"Like any other coach if his team perform badly he must be disappointed, so I'm disappointed," he said.
"But I think we can still do well in the World Cup despite our early exit in the Nations Cup."
Togo are out of the Nations Cup after successive defeats to the DR Congo and Cameroon in Group B, their final game in Egypt is against Angola on Sunday.
