Stambouli's departure could affect Raja's African fortunes |
Henri Stambouli has resigned as coach of Morocco's Raja Casablanca.
The French-born coach will take up a lucrative offer to manage Al Shareqa in the United Arab Emirates.
Stambouli, the former Olympique Marseille goalkeeper had been in charge at Raja for six months during which he engineered a late run at
the league title.
But the team ceded the championship in a
dramatic home defeat on the final day of the season last month.
Raja was the latest in a series of brief job stints for Stambouli, who spent three months in charge at Club Africain of Tunisia last year.
He also had a four-month spell as national
coach of Mali, from October 2003 to February 2004.
Stambouli's departure from Morocco comes just days before Raja host Ajax Cape Town of South Africa in the African Champions League on Saturday.
