Guinea came back from a goal down to seal their qualification for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations as they beat Zambia 2-1.

Pascal Feindouno slammed in a brilliant shot off the underside of the bar in stoppage time to break Zambian hearts.

Zambia took the lead just after the half-hour mark when captain Elijah Tana headed home James Chamanga's corner.

Guinea levelled in the 74th minute with a penalty, Feindouno slotting in after George Kolola had fouled Fode Mansare.

Guinea left it late to seal the points in this Group C clash and in truth they struggled badly at times against a determined Zambian outfit, who took a deserved lead through skipper Tana.

Indeed Tana went close with a free-kick from almost 35 yards soon after his opener, but the ball floated just inches over the crossbar.

Collins Mbesuma also failed to double the score two minutes later. He had only Naby Diarso to beat but the Guinean keeper blocked his feeble effort.

Christopher Katongo had the chance to score a potential match-winner, breaking free on the right, but he was denied inside the box by Omar Kalaban.

Guinea's chances did not come along too often, but they also suffered from a profligacy in front of goal.

Sembegou Bangoura reacted quickly but failed to pounce on a high cross from Feindouno, while Mansare broke free on the left and failed to finish off as the Zambians covered.

Pablo Thiam played a fine combination with Sembegou but from the edge of the box, his drilled left-foot shot was off target.

Three minutes later, it was Sembegou who failed to finish substitute Ibrahim Yattara's cross as Guinea attacked on the break.

Then Thiam skied an easy tap-in over the bar from just three yards out after Feindouno had fed in Mansare down the left.

Substitute Kaba Diawara's first-time volley was well-taken but he too managed to miss the target.

Guinea's final game against Tunisia will now decide who wins Group C, while Zambia's clash with South Africa will determine who finishes last in the group.
