1855: FULL-TIME Egypt 3-0 Libya
Egypt dominated the game and deserved the victory in the opening game of the African Cup of Nations, but will facer tougher opposition in their next two games against Morocco and the Ivory Coast.

1853: Hassan Mostafa nearly gets a fourth for Egypt as fires in a shot from the edge of the area but Ghazalla punches the ball away.

1851: Four minutes of injury time are added on at the end of the game.

1848: Egypt make their final change as Abdelwahad leaves the pitch and Tarel Al Sayed replaces him.

1843: Egypt's Abdelwahad is booked for deliberate handball as the ball bounces over his head and there are no players anywhere near him

1841: Amr Zaki is replaced by Emad Moteab for Egypt.

1838: An Egyptian substitution sees Hassan Mostafa come on for Aboutrika

1837: GOAL Egypt 3-0 Libya
Ghazalla saves Mido's penalty but Ahmed Hassan is following up to smash home the ball on the rebound, the Libyan defence are nowhere to be seen.

1836: Reserve goalkeeper Muftah Ghazalla comes on for Libya to replace Jihad Muntaser and face a penalty from Mido.

1834: RED CARD and PENALTY
Libyan goalkeeper de Agustini gets a second yellow card and is sent off after dragging Zaki down by the neck after misjudging a bounce.

1830: Rewani goes down in the area and Egypt's Aboutrika is booked for an apparent elbow, but the replays show that it was Mohamed Shawky who committed the foul.

1829: Amr Zaki breaks down the left and gets into the area before crossing the ball across the Libyan area an Egyptian player gets a shot in that hits a Libyan defender with the Pharaoh's claiming hand ball but the referee is not interested.

1825: Salem Rewani is booked for apparently handling the ball on the edge of the Egyptian area as he tries to get a shot on target.

1824: El Taib comes on to replace Ahmed Saad for Libya.

1822: Libya's captain Tarek El Taib is warming up on the side lines, the Turkey-based player was not fit enough to start the game but looks like he will play the final half hour of the game.

1818: Maklouf looks lucky to stay on the pitch as he fouls Barakat.

1817: Mido breaks into the Libyan area but his shot is blocked by a defender.

1814: Libyan 'keeper de Agustini is booked for dissent.

1813: Egypt's Abdelwahad swings in a free-kick that Aboutrika meets and it goes just over the bar.

1811: The Burkina Faso referee Lassina Tare is bring stricter on giving free-kicks at the start of the second-half, which means things are not flowing yet.

1809: Barakat puts in a free-kick from the right hand side of the Libyan area but it is easily headed away.

1805: Libya get the second-half underway at the Cairo International Stadium.

1750:HALF-TIME Egypt 2-0 Libya
Egypt have dominated the first-half but Libya did manage to cause a few moments of worry in the Pharaohs' defence.

1748: Two minutes of injury time are added at the end of the first-half.

1747: Mido flicks the ball on for Barakat who crosses the ball dangeroulsy into the area but once again there are no Egyptians in the danger area to meet the ball.

1745: Mahmoud Maklouf becomes the third Libyan player to go in the book after handling the ball.

1741: El Saqqa strikes a powerful long range free-kick for Egypt that de Agustini grabs at the second attempt.

1740: Libya's Omar Daoud is shown a yellow card after several fouls that have gone unpunished.

1736: Ramli has a shot from a tight angle for Libya that Essam Al Hadari does well to punch away.

1735: Libya's Omar Daoud goes down in his own area and his hand appears to make contact with the ball but the referee waves play on.

1729: Egypt's Wael Gomaa is booked and Libya's Shibani fires in a long range free-kick that flies narrowly over the bar.

1725: GOAL Egypt 2-0 Libya
Mohamed Aboutrika curls in a beautiful ball from a free-kick that leaves goalkeeper de Agustini standing still.

1723: Amr Zaki is brought down on the edge of the area by Libya's Younes Shibani, who is shown the yellow card possibly for arguing with the referee.

1719: GOAL Egypt 1-0 Libya
Tottenham Hotspur's Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam heads in a corner from Mohamed Abdelwahab to send the home fans wild.

1716: Egypt's Abdelzaher El Saqqa has the first shot on target as he fires in from the edge of the area but Luis de Agustini manages to put the ball behind for a corner.

1714: Libya get their first corner of the match but the cross is poor, it eventually falls to Marei Ramli who has a shot but it is high and wide of the Egyptian goal.

1710: Mohamed Barakat gets in a good cross from the right hand side but can't find a fellow Egyptian player in the area.

1707: The Pharaohs get two corners in quick succession but the Libyans manage to scramble the ball away from the danger area.

1705: Egypt get the first corner of the game but the Libyan defence get the ball clear.

1702: Hosts Egypt get the 25th African Cup of Nations underway as they kick off against Libya in the Cairo International Stadium.

1658: The national anthems are played with the Egyptian one being cheered while whistles greet the Libyan one.

1655: The teams appear on the pitch from beneath a Sphinx that has been built above the tunnel, they are welcomed by a rapturous crowd that is filling around 80 per cent of the Cairo International Stadium.

The organisers say they have sold 10,000 tickets to Libyan supporters but there are not that many people in the area set aside for them.

1635: The stadium is filling up as the ceremony reaches a climax with red and green lasers spelling out African Nations Cup on the pitch.

The smoke from the fireworks is gently drifting off the pitch thanks to a gentle breeze, the floodlights have come on in preparation for the opening game.

1620: The opening ceremony for the 25th African Cup of Nations in Egypt is underway in the Cairo International Stadium, which is not quite full. Parachutists landed in the stadium carrying the flags of the 16 participating nations as well as Caf and Fifa.

Amidst a spectacular show of lights and fireworks the opening ceremony is reflecting the long history of Egypt.
