Samuel Eto'o was the target of an apparent racist outburst |
Athletic Bilbao coach Javier Clemente faces punishment for allegedly making racist remarks about Cameroon and Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o. Spain's Anti-Violence Commission has asked the country's football federation to open disciplinary charges.
"I thought those who spat had just come down from the trees," Clemente said after TV replays showed Eto'o spitting at Bilbao defender Unai Exposito.
Clemente, a former Spain coach, has denied his comments were racist.
The commission, which forms part of the state's Higher Sports Council, made no call for action on Eto'o.
Unnamed sources cited by Efe said the Cameroon striker's actions occurred during the match and was a matter for the federation to judge.
Last year, the federation acted at the behest of the commission to fine Spain coach Luis US$3,600.
Aragones made a racist comment about Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and delivered an outburst about Britain's colonial past.
