Ahmed Mido Hossam has ruled out returning to AS Roma |
Egyptian striker Ahmed Mido Hossam has told Roma he will not be returning to the club.
The striker, currently enjoying an 18-month loan with Tottenham from the Serie A side, wants to remain with Martin Jol's side after the summer.
Roma have already revealed that Spurs have made the first moves towards signing the player on a long term deal but the Italians also asked Mido if he would consider returning.
But Mido, who will play against Liverpool this weekend before flying off to link up with his country for the African Nations Cup, immediately dismissed the chance of returning to Roma.
"Roma wanted me to come back to help them in Serie A but I refused because as I said before I want to stay at Tottenham," he said.
"I am pleased to be playing with friends like Robbie Keane and Edgar Davids who are stars for the club and their countries".
"My relationship with the manager is good. I feel my experience at Spurs is successful and I am really happy with it.
The Egyptian said he was fulfilling a life-long ambition by playing in the English Premier League.
"I feel this is the best and most important experience for me."
Jol has always maintained that Mido would have to score around 15 goals in order for the club to consider making his move permanent when the loan deal expires at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has made 22 appearances for Tottenham Hotspurs, scoring nine times in the process and has now made his intentions very clear by informing Roma he does not see his future in the Italian league.
