Lyn Oslo lose two more Nigerians

Two more Nigerian players have gone missing from the Norwegian club at the centre of the John Mikel Obi transfer saga.

Both Ezekiel Bala and Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke failed to turn up to training with Lyn Oslo on Tuesday.

"I think they are going to meet up with the Nigerian squad who are training [in France] for the forthcoming World Youth Championship," Lyn Oslo coach Henning Berg told BBC Sport.

Berg, who took charge of Lyn Oslo in his first managerial post only three weeks ago, wants the duo back for two domestic matches this week.

"If the pair have gone to join the under-20 side, then they are not allowed to go yet," Berg explained.

"They can only leave two weeks before the tournament [in Holland] but there are still over three weeks before it begins."

The duo's disappearance takes to three the number of Nigerian youngsters that have left Lyn Oslo without the club's permission in the last week.

Last Thursday, Mikel Obi created headlines by flying to London where he is believed to be considering a move to Chelsea.

The player is at a tug-of-war not only between the Premiership champions and Manchester United, but also a clutch of agents.

London-based Daniel Fletcher says he holds the player's registration but Nigeria-based John Shittu, who works with agent Jerome Anderson of The Sports Entertainment & Management Group (SEM), disputes this.

On Wednesday, Norwegian newspapers reported that SEM's lawyer has sent a letter to the Norwegian Football Federation asking for a meeting with Lyn Oslo.

"SEM and John Shittu don't believe that Lyn Oslo hold the rights to Mikel Obi," Sindre Olsen, a journalist with Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, told BBC Sport.

Lyn Oslo coach Berg, who used to play for Manchester United, confessed that he has no idea whether a player he describes as 'very talented' will ever play in Norwegian football again.

"It's just not a good situation for Mikel Obi, for the club, for everybody in fact," Berg explained.

"I haven't spoken to the player since he left and I don't have a clue how the situation is going to resolve itself.

"Mikel Obi's a good player, very talented and his decision-making on the pitch makes him stand out.

"To be only 18 and to make such good decisions is what makes him very special."
