Kuffuor accused Ghana FA officials of telling lies about him

Ghana has left out Germany-based Sammy Kuffuor for their crucial World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on 5 June.

The Bayern Munich defender has been apparently left out of the squad for suggesting the Ghana Football Association (GFA) lied about the state of his health before their last qualifier against DR Congo in February.

Ratomir Dujkovic, Ghana's coach, said that he would not consider the 2001 BBC African Footballer of the Year for the Black Stars until he apologised for his outburst.

"If he wants to be called up again he must apologise to me, to the federation and to all Ghanaians, because we are not liars," Dujkovic said.

Midfielder Michael Essien and striker Baffour Gyan, both suspended for their last match, return to the squad.

Ghana, who have only seven home-based players in the side, are third in Group Two and are three point behind leaders South Africa.
