Kenya's players insist their allowances must be paid |
Players of Kenya's national side have refused to travel to Rwanda for the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup starting on Saturday. The 18-man squad, captained by defender Hussein Mohammed, refused to board a flight to Rwanda until their outstanding allowances are paid.
"What we are asking for is our allowances. They Kenyan Football Federation (KFF) should come and tell us how they are going to pay us [before we travel to Rwanda]," one of the players said.
Members of the Harambee Stars had also held a sit-in protest on Thursday to force the KFF to accede to their demands.
Although the player's protest has upset Kenya's travel plans, a quick resolution of the crisis would still allow the Harambee Stars to still participate in the tournament.
Kenya drawn in Group A, do not play their opening match until Monday, when they face Eritrea.
