Nigeria captain Jay-Jay Okocha has said everyone involved with the national team must take responsibility for the country's failure to qualify for the 2006 World Cup.
Angola pipped Nigeria to the ticket to Germany after being Rwanda 1-0 in Kigali.
"We are all to blame because we made a couple of mistakes along the way and this eventually cost us the ticket to the World Cup," Okocha said.
The Bolton Wanderers midfielder had declared he would quit international football after the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany.
But the Super Eagles' failure to qualify for the tournament has put Okocha in a dilemma as to when to end his career with the national team.
"I will need some time to decide on whether or not I will be in Egypt for the Nations Cup. Whatever I decide, I will make it public," the 32-year-old Okocha said.
Okocha first announced his retirement from international football after Nigeria failed to go beyond the first round of the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan. But he was persuaded to return to the team.
Making his debut for Nigeria in a match against the Ivory Coast in 1993, Okocha did not feature in their final qualifying match against Zimbabwe, which the Super Eagles won 5-1, due to injury.
