Jean-Paul Kamudimba Kalala is set for a recall to the Democratic Republic of Congo squad which is facing South Africa in a World Cup qualifier. Coach Claude Le Roy said he would name the 23-year-old defender for the 8 October game.
Kalala's recent goal for Grimsby Town knocked Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur out of the English League Cup.
Formerly with Nice in France's Ligue 1, Kalala won the last of his six caps for DR Congo at the 2004 African Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
Le Roy said there would also be a recall for winger Marcel Mbayo and defender Herve Lembi, who both missed the 2-1 win over the Cape Verde Islands, which was the country's qualifier.
The Congolese have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the World Cup finals.
But they must beat South Africa by a wide margin and hope Group Two leaders Ghana lose heavily to the Cape Verde Islands.
