Zimbabwe striker Benjamin 'Benjani' Mwaruwari will fund a two-week training camp in France ahead of next year's African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
Mwaruwari, who plays for French Ligue One side Auxerre, made the offer to Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) chairman Rafik Khan.
Khan told BBC Sport that it is the first time a national team player has made such a gesture.
"Before Benjamin made this offer, we were thinking of having a training camp in Portugal.
"But the arrangements for this were not firmed up before he came to us.
"Apart from us paying for the flight tickets of the players that will go to the training camp, he is going to be responsible for our stay in France.
"It is the first time that a Zimbabwean player has done this and we are grateful for an act that shows he is committed to the national team.
"George Weah was able to do this type of thing for the Liberian national team and we are happy that we have a player doing something similar," Khan said.
Although Khan was unable to confirm the exact site for the training camp, he told BBC Sport that it is likely to be around Auxerre, where Mwaruwari plays his club football.
"Plans as to where we are based will be confirmed after the Cup of Nations draw in Egypt, which takes place on the 20th Of October," the Zifa boss said.
