Cameroon prepare for Egypt clash
Benoit Assou-Ekotto
Uncapped Assou-Ekotto plays for French side Lens
Benoit Assou-Ekotto is the only addition to Cameroon's squad for next month's World Cup qualifier at home to Egypt, the country's Football Federation has revealed.

Coach Artur Jorge called up the uncapped France-based defender to a 22-man squad for the match in Yaounde on 9 October.

The Indomitable Lions must win the qualifier to make sure of an African record sixth World Cup finals appearance.

The 21-year-old Assou-Ekotto, who plays for Lens, was born in France but has a Cameroonian father.

Midfielder Geremi will miss the match through suspension after picking up a yellow card in Cameroon's last World Cup qualifier, a dramatic 3-2 away win over the Ivory Coast in Abidjan.

The result resurrected Cameroon's chances of qualifying, lifting them to the top of Group Three where they lead the Ivorians by one point.

If Cameroon fail to win, the Ivorians can still qualify by beating Sudan away on 8 October.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Pierre Ebede Owono (Panathinaikos, Greece), Souleymanou Hamidou (Denizlispor, Turkey)

Defenders: Benoit Angbwa (Lille, France), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Lens, France), Timothee Atouba (SV Hamburg, Germany), Armand Deumi (FC Thun, Switzerland), Raymond Kalla (Sivasspor, Turkey), Eric Matoukou (Racing Genk, Belgium), Rigobert Song (Galatasaray, Turkey), Pierre Wome (Inter Milan, Italy)

Midfielders: Eric Djemba Djemba (Aston Villa, England), Jean Makoun (Lille, France), Modeste Mbami (Paris St Germain, France), Daniel Ngom Kome (Getafe, Spain), Salomon Olembe (Al Rayyan, Qatar), Alioum Saidou (Galatasaray, Turkey)

Forwards: Rudolph Douala (Sporting Lisbon, Portugal), Samuel Eto'o (Barcelona, Spain), Guy Feutchine (PAOK Salonika, Greece), Albert Meyong Ze (Vitoria Setubal, Portugal), Pius Ndiefi (Germinal Beerschot, Belgium), Achille Webo (Osasuna, Spain)
