Kheri says squabbling in the KFF would affect his team's performance |
Kenyan coach Mohammed Kheri has recalled Evans Orodi and named new cap Edgar Ochieng to strengthen their defence for their Group Five World Cup qualifier in Tunisia on 17 August.
The East African country will be missing the services of veteran sweeper and national team captain Musa Otieno for match scheduled for Tunis.
With Otieno set to miss only his second match in a 14-year-old international career after picking a second yellow against Morocco in June, Kheri said he was well aware of the pressure the African champions will put on his defence.
"As the visiting team we are going to defend with a few periodical attacks," said Kheri on Saturday ahead of the team's departure for Tunisia.
"It is not going to be easy playing away against the Tunisians who are already eyeing a place in the World Cup finals in Germany," he said.
Tunisia are two points behind the group leaders Morocco but with a game in hand while Kenya are fourth.
Kheri said he was worried the squabbling in the Kenya Football Federation (KFF) and the frequent row over pay would affect the performance of his team in the two remaining matches.
Kenya have been ordered by football's world governing body, Fifa to play the September 2 return game with Tunisia behind closed doors as a penalty for the crowd trouble that marred the last home match against Morocco in June.
Chances of having the ban overturned were rejected by Fifa's disciplinary committee earlier this week on the grounds that the KFF was too late in submitting the appeal.
"We need divine intervention from these squabbles and for the team's success," Kheri said.
