Khoza gets World Cup job
Irvin Khoza
Khoza's influence reaches every sphere of South African football
Irvin Khoza was named as chairman of South Africa's organising committee for the 2010 World Cup finals on Saturday.

Nicknamed "The Prince of Darkness" by his critics, Khoza is a hugely influential figure in South African football.

He headed the bid committee which earlier this year won the right to host the World Cup in Africa for the first time.

Khoza is also chairman of the South African premier league, a vice president of the South African Football Association and owner of the popular club Orlando Pirates.

Danny Jordaan, the chief executive of the bid campaign, was named among 15 committee members.

The committee includes football officials, cabinet ministers and businessmen.

Officials said the committee's first task will be to appoint a chief executive.
