Louis Watunda has ended his association with clubside Motema Pembe.
The former DR Congo manager had been in charge of the league champions for the last six weeks of the domestic campaign.
But Watunda said unpleasant working conditions made it impossible to sign a long-term deal with the club.
Motema, who won the DR Congo title ahead of TP Mazembe, are expected to represent the country in next year's African Champions League campaign.
"I don't want to work with clubs that use outdated managerial methods," Watunda told BBC Sport.
"I have to work under good conditions, so that the players know that I am in charge of the team."
Watunda's standing in the country grew after leading the Simbas to third place at the 1998 African Nations Cup in Burkina Faso.
He went on to manage South African club Bush Bucks and Burkinabe side Etoile Filante.
Dissatisfied with the poor state of the domestic league, Watunda said he might be compelled to continue working abroad, even though he prefers to ply his trade at home.
"When I work abroad, my thoughts are always about home and how one can improve football here.
"Three years away from relatives and countrymen is unbearable," Watunda said.
