The search for the BBC African Footballer of the Year for 2004 has come down to a shortlist of five players, one of whom you now have the chance to vote as the continent's top player this year. We received nearly 4,000 e-mails, letters and texts with your nominations for this year's award.
The top five in alphabetical order are:
Stephen Appiah - Ghana and Juventus
Didier Drogba - Ivory Coast and Chelsea
Samuel Eto'o Fils - Cameroon and Barcelona
Obafemi Martins - Nigeria and Inter Milan
Jay-Jay Okocha - Nigerian and Bolton Wanderers
You have until 31 December to vote for your 2004 BBC African Footballer of the Year.
We will announce the winner of the vote on the BBC World Service sports programme Fast Track on 7 January.
The winner will be presented with the prestigious trophy in early 2005.
