Cecil Jones Attuquayefio has apparently quit as coach of Benin |
Benin coach Jones Attuquayefio is threatening to quit unless the conditions of his employment are improved.
The Ghanaian is currently back at home in Accra as the Squirrels prepare to take on Egypt in a 2006 World Cup qualifier in Cotonou on Sunday without him.
He confirmed that he will not be in charge for the game against Egypt as a protest over the terms and conditions of his current contract.
"My contract terms have not been fulfilled and there are a lot of issues that need to be looked at," he told BBC Sport.
"But it appears no one is interested and therefore I have no choice but to protest by coming home.
"I hope that having made my point clear, they will call me back if they still want me," Attuquayefio said.
The former Ghana coach has complained about unpaid salaries and has also accused the Benin football federation (Febefoot) of failing to provide him with a house, an official car and telecommunication facilities as spelt out in his contract.
Attuquayefio's contract with Benin is due to expire at the end of August 2004 but he says he has already handed in his resignation that will take effect from July 31st unless the Febefoot show some more commitment to the terms of the contract.
Attuquayefio guided Benin to their first appearance at the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia earlier this year after taking over from Belgian Rene Telman.
Last weekend the Beninois technical director Cesar Dagba was asked to step in as replacement for Attuquayefio to look after the team against Egypt.
