Swazis go on strike
The entrance to Swaziland's Somhlolo stadium
People may not be heading to the Somhlolo stadium this Sunday
Swaziland's players have gone on strike and threatened not play in Sunday's Cosafa Cup quarter-final against Zimbabwe.

The players' action follows the announcement of the 18-man squad for the match.

The squad has refused to train and has stayed in their hotel rooms waiting for senior officials from the National Football Association of Swaziland to arrive to sort out the situation.

The team are unhappy because they have not been paid outstanding match allowances, stretching as far as back as lat year's World Cup preliminary round matches against the Cape Verde Islands.

Swaziland officials acknowledged over the weekend that the players were still owed money but said they had hoped to pay them after Sunday's match against Zimbabwe.

The players are however mindful of previous promises that have been broken and they are refusing to budge on the matter.

They say they will not head to the training ground unless the money is brought to their camp and distributed to the players.

Coach Dumisa Mahlalela says that there is nothing that he can do.

"It's only the FA that can save us now," he said.

"There's nothing we coaches can do because the players have made up their minds.

"So far the FA have not bothered to come and assess the situation."
