Tunisia's Karim Saidi has been signed by Dutch club Feyenoord |
Tunisian defender Karim Saidi has signed for Feyenoord in a move he says will boost his career. Saidi agreed to a four-year deal with the Dutch club from Tunisian side Club Africain.
"I understand that the Dutch first division is a very good place to make fast progress," Saidi told Feyenoord's official website.
"The most important reason to come to Feyenoord is to get better and the chance to work with Ruud Gullit.
"I absolutely want to be a success here, so I hope the move is sorted out soon."
The Feyenoord technical staff are equally delighted about luring the African Cup of Nations winner, who has reportedly snubbed other offers from France and Turkey.
Feyenoord coach Ruud Gullit said Saidi is "a true defender that we can really use".
The Dutch side's technical director Mark Wotte said that they have been monitoring the Tunisian for the past few months and he is excited to join the club.
Saidi said he was convinced by his fellow Tunisia team mate, defender Hatem Trabelsi of Ajax, to join Feyenoord.
"Trabelsi told me that Feyenoord is a very good club with a fanatical crowd so he advised me to come here," said Saidi.
Saidi becomes the second Tunisian player in a week to move to Europe after Karim Hagui's transfer from Etoile Sahel to French club Strasbourg.
