Oruma currently has a muscle tear |
Midfielder Wilson Oruma is looking forward to playing a role in Nigeria's bid to qualify for the 2006 World Cup.
Oruma, who has not played competitive football for Nigeria since the 2002 Cup of Nations, was bitter with the decision of manager Christian Chukwu not to invite him for the 2004 edition in Tunisia.
But he told BBC Sport in London that a meeting with Chukwu has helped to improve relations between them.
"I came to London to join the team for the Unity Cup tournament, even though I was injured, so that I could have a chat with the manager.
"We had a good discussion and I look forward to playing for my country from now on," Oruma said.
The midfielder, who won the French Cup with Sochaux this season, said that playing for his Super Eagles is an honour that he would never reject.

"I want to play for my country and I believe that on current form I deserve to be in the team.
"I am not asking for any favours but just a chance to show my abilities," he said.
Although he will join the Super Eagles for their opening 2006 World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in Abuja, Oruma said a muscle tear could rule him out of the game.
"I hope I can play but my injury makes me a doubt for the team. But we will have to wait and see."
A captain of the Nigerian Under-17 side that won the World Championship in 1993, Oruma said he is keen to play in the English Premiership.
"A move to England would be good but I am hoping to get European Union nationality which would make a transfer easier."
