McCarthy played a bit-part in Porto's Champions League win |
Striker Benni McCarthy has not been named in South Africa's squad to face Cape Verde in their World Cup qualifyer on 5 June. It was expected McCarthy would be absent from the match as his wedding is the same weekend.
McCarthy came on as a substitute in his club Porto's 3-0 win over Monaco in the Uefa Champions League final.
A trio of midfielders - Manchester United's Quinton Fortune, Ajax's Steven Pienaar and FC Copenhagen's Sibusiso Zuma - are also out of the squad.
Elrio van Heerden, a team-mate of Zuma at the Danish club, is the only uncapped player in an 18-strong squad named by new English coach Stuart Baxter.
Baxter has also switched Tottenham Hotspur centreback Mbulelo Mabizela to midfield.
