There is confusion in Guinea surrounding reports of deaths at an international football match in Conakry.
Journalists on the scene have said that three people, one of them a woman, were killed in a crush for tickets for the World Cup qualifier between Guinea and Morocco.
Officials in the country deny the deaths at the 28 September Stadium but do say that 18 people were injured there.
The incident happened before the game, with eyewitnesses saying there was a crush as fans stampeded into the entrance of the 35,000-seater stadium, which had been full to capacity since the morning.
Reports state that the gate to the entrance fell down as a result of pressure from the crowd.
One journalist, a Swedish national, told the BBC he had spoken to the police, who had said two - rather than three - people had died.
Another policeman, who said he saw one body being taken away, reportedly stated that the crowd had surged while people were lining up to get into the ground through its four entrances.
In spite of the claims of fatalities, medical authorities are saying that some people have simply been injured.
Jean-Pierre Kamano, the director of the country's national medicine for sport, said that the total number of people hurt was 18.
Despite the incident, the match continued - with the players apparently unaware of what had happened - and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Guinean authorities are expected to make a statement on Monday regarding the incident.
