Samuel Eto'o
Eto'o is in a hospital in Paris
Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o has been hospitalized with gastroenteritis and will miss the World Cup qualifier in Sudan.

Eto'o, the African Player of the Year, took ill in Cameroon, where he was preparing for Saturday's game and decided to return to Spain via Paris.

Officials of Spanish club Barcelona said their player was taken to hospital on his arrival in the French capital.

Barcelona doctor Lluis Til believes the striker's illness is not serious and should be discharged from hospital within two days.

Eto'o, who joined Barcelona from Real Mallorca in the summer, is the Spanish league's joint top scorer this season with five goals.

He was named on Monday as one of 35 candidates for this year's Fifa World Player of the Year award.
