All four sides involved in the African Women's Championship semi-finals are predicting victory but none are backing it up with any substantive reasoning.

Both semis are being played on Tuesday, with Cameroon having beaten Ghana 1-0 in the first match which got underway at 1100 GMT.

The second game between Nigeria and Ethiopia kicked off at 1400 GMT.

The Johannesburg Stadium hosts both games.

When asked about their team's chances of making Sunday's final, coaches of the semi-finalists all forecast victory but none were prepare to give reasons for their confidence.

"3-0" was the jocular prediction from Ethiopia coach Melese Shale when he was questioned on his side's chances of beating Nigeria to reach its first final.

In reality, Nigeria are overwhelming favourites against the pint-sized Ethiopians, who have more than exceeded their own initial expectations by making the final four at the two-week tournament.

Ethiopia needed a late penalty against South Africa in their final Group A game on Saturday to book their berth and are expected to come under a heavy onslaught from the Super Falcons.

The tournament's leading goalscorer Perpetua Nkwocha will be seeking to add to the four goals she has netted already for Nigeria.

The semi-final winners go through to Sunday's final in Johannesburg while the losers will play in Friday's third place play-off match in Pretoria.
