Azmy says Fifa understated its capabilities |
Egyptian officials have questioned the accuracy of the Fifa inspectors' report on the country's suitability to host the 2010 World Cup finals. Hisham Azmy, the manager of Egypt's 2010 bid, told BBC Sport that the evaluation contained "incorrect and inaccurate" information.
He said: "The report ignored the fact that we're the only African country that has two [communication] satellites.
"This fact alone should have boosted our telecommunications evaluation."
He also claimed that the report did not reflect the various transportation facilities available in Egypt.
The report mentioned that Egypt has plans to build an underground train service.
But the capital, Cairo, already has an underground metro system which was inaugurated in 1987.
"I know that the mistakes in the Fifa report were not intentional," Azmy said.
Fifa's inspection report appears to put Egypt behind South Africa in the race to host the 2010 World Cup.
The 24-man Fifa executive committee will meet in Zurich on 15 May to name the 2010 hosts.
