Kenya's stuttering start to its 2006 World Cup campaign is over |
Fifa's organising committee for the 2006 World Cup has announced new dates for Kenya's three postponed qualifiers.
The Harambee Stars' opening Group Five fixtures were indefinitely delayed after the country was suspended from international football.
This followed governmental interference in the affairs of the Kenya Football Federation.
Fifa lifted the suspension on 6 August, following which consultations were made with Kenya and the three concerned nations - Guinea, Morocco and Tunisia - to organise a match schedule.
Kenya had been due to host Guinea on 5 June, but will now play the Syli Nationale on 17 November, while their game in Morocco now takes place on 9 February 2005.
The Harambee Stars' match at the home of African champions Tunisia will be played on 17 August 2005, some thirteen months after the tie should have been played.
After the East African nation returned to the international fold, they kicked off their Group Five campaign three months late, with a 3-2 home win over Malawi.
Fifa lifted Kenya's ban after the creation of a 'Normalisation Committee', which fulfilled various conditions that paved the way for the nation's re-entry into world football.
