Lemerre's future had been the subject of speculation |
Roger Lemerre has extended his contract to manage Tunisia until 2006. Lemerre, who led the North Africans to their Cup of Nations triumph in February, is expected to pilot the Carthage Eagles through the joint qualifiers for the 2006 Cup of Nations and World Cup finals.
The French coach made history on 14 February as the only coach to have led a European and African national team to continental titles.
He led his native France to the European Championship in 2000 but was subsequently sacked after they were eliminated at the group stage of the 2002 World Cup finals.
Meanwhile, a squad of 21 players has been named for their 31March friendly against Ivory Coast.
The Carthage Eagles are expected to play matches against Mali on 28 April 28 and Italy on 30 May.
