The Super Falcons made a winning start
Nigeria began their campaign in the women's Olympic football tournament with a 1-0 win over Japan on Saturday.

Vera Okolo's goal 10 minutes after the break sealed victory for the Super Falcons at the Karaiskaki Stadium in Athens.

The African champions have a good chance of making the quarter-finals with only two sides being eliminated after the group stages.

Nigeria are level on three points with the Japanese at the top of the Group E standings.

World Cup runners-up Sweden, the other team in the group, meet Nigeria on Tuesday and have no points after losing to the Japanese in their opening game.
