Senegal's Lamine Diatta is set to join French champions Lyon |
Senegal defender Lamine Diatta will sign a two-year contract with French champions Olympique Lyon next week, the club say. "He will be in Lyon at the start of the week to undergo the usual medical and to sign his contract," Lyon said on its official website.
The 28-year-old's contract with another French club, Rennes, ran out at the end of last season.
Diatta will be reunited with Lyon coach Paul Le Guen, who signed him for Rennes in 1999.
Lyon said it had beaten off competition from several other clubs in France as well as the English premiership to sign the versatile defender.
Diatta is a regular for Senegal and was at the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia this year and was also part of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2002.
