Mali coach Henri Stambouli said his side were left in tears after their Cup of Nations semi-final exit at the hands of Morocco. "After the first goal went in we never recovered," said Stambouli, whose team lost 4-0 to the North Africans.
"Then it became a nightmare, as we kept getting caught on the break.
"There are tears in the dressing room. All the players are devastated.
"I've no idea how I'm going to raise the players for the third/fourth-place match.
"I haven't even begun to think about it."
Mali, who were many people's dark horses for the title, were handed a shock to the system when Youssef Mokhtari opened the scoring for Morocco after 14 minutes.
Mokhtari added a second 13 minutes after the break before Youssef Hadji and Nabil Baha ended Stambouli's side's dreams.
Mali play Nigeria in the third/fourth place play-off on Friday.
