Eto'o promises goals
Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o Fils in action
Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o Fils says goals will come
Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o Fils is confident his goal drought at the African Cup of Nations will end soon.

The 22-year-old Real Mallorca striker is targeting the Indomitable Lions quarter-final on Sunday to get his name on the score sheet.

So far Eto'o has yet to score in any of Cameroon's three matches in Tunisia, and has been overshadowed by his veteran strike partner Patrick Mboma who has found the net four times.

"If I am not scoring goals, it is not for the want of trying," said Eto'o, who has been short-listed for Caf's 2003 African Footballer of the Year award.

"I am always involved in the game, and my team mates and coach are happy with me.

"I have had a big influence on each match. I am certain the goals will return sooner rather than later."

Even great strikers like Ronaldo don't score all the time

Eto'o has 20 goals to his name from 48 internationals, and is the top scorer for his Spanish club so far this season with eight strikes.

And the Indomitable Lion is hoping he can take this goalscoring ability into Sunday's quarter-final, where Cameroon will face the Group D runners-up - either Cameroon, Morocco or South Africa.

"I hope to do a lot better in the second round," said the Real Mallorca star.

"I may not have scored yet but even great strikers like Ronaldo don't score all the time."

Eto'o has been shortlisted by Caf alongside Nigerian captain Jay-Jay Okocha and Ivorian striker Didier Drogba, who plays for French side Marseille.
