A four-man delegation has arrived in Cairo for a seven- day visit to Egypt to assess the country's ability to host the World Cup in 2010.
Egypt is one of five African countries bidding to become the continent's first host of the World Cup, Fifa have already been to South Africa, Morocco, Libya and Tunisia.
The delegation is expected to leave on 30 January.
During their visit Fifa will be meeting with top government officials and will also be looking at transportation and other areas of the bid document.
The Egypt Football Association's bid co-ordinator, Hicham Azmi, explained that a lot of preparation has already gone into the visit.
"We have spent almost 1500 hours preparing for this programme which was recommended by Fifa, " he said.
However the Fifa delegation won't be holding any press interviews during the visit except for a press conference that will be held on 30 January at the end of the tour.
The Fifa inspection committee will not only be visiting the host cities of Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Ismailia, Port Said, Suez and Hurghada, they will also see historical and tourist sites such as Luxor and Sharm El- Sheikh.
The Fifa visit comes as many Egyptian officials and media are in Tunisia to cover and attend the Caf Congress and African Cup of Nations.
