Mark Fish retired in protest over Mashaba's policies |
Suspended South African coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba says that he will be back in court to fight his case. Mashaba is battling with the South Africa Football Association (Safa) over his seven day suspension.
The court case was adjourned on Tuesday in order to give Safa time to respond to Mashaba's charges.
The case is set to continue in court despite both parties trying to reach an out of court settlement and the intervention of Sports minister Ngconde Balfour.
Balfour met with Safa and Mashaba yesterday but failed to resolve the crisis that has engulfed South African football in recent weeks.
Safa claim that Mashaba failed to monitor the form of the country's foreign-based footballers and to promote the association's image.
European-based players such as Charlton's Mark Fish, Manchester United's Quinton Fortune and FC Porto's Benni McCarthy are all missing the trip to Tunisia.
Fish was included in South Africa's initial squad named in December, but then retired from international football when Mashaba refused him permission to join the squad late
The Charlton defender was replaced by Neil Winstanley of Wits University in the squad finalised today.
Assistant coach Styles Phumo has taken over for the time being and was in charge for last weekend's 2-0 loss in Mauritius in the Cosafa Castle Cup.
Bafana Bafana are in Group D at the Nations Cup finals along with Nigeria, Morocco and Benin.
