Slim Chiboub has decided to stay on as President of Esperance, and has appointed a new coach

He replaces Youssef Zouaoui, who was sacked after the club failed to reach the final of the African Champion's League.

Club football president Slim Chiboub, who has held the post for more than 10 years, has been re-elected to his post following a general assembly on Tuesday evening in Tunis.

Fullone has already coached such high profile African teams as Asec Abidjan of Ivory Coast, Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca.

Fullone will bring with him two Argentine players and a Nigerian, but their names have not yet been released.

Mr Chiboub, who is also the Chairman of the organising committee for the 2004 African Cup of Nations, had indicated that he was planning to abandon the club presidency and that his successor would select a new coach.

"After 14 years of service, it is time that another person takes over," he had announced.

But he now says he has changed his mind because of pressure from the fans.

"I have never abandoned my responsibilities, I would have liked to have benefited from a bit of relaxation. You never gave me the opportunity to find that freedom. Finally, I have accepted the wish of the supporters."
