Ndlovu's club Sheffield United may host Zimbabwe |
Zimbabwe will wind up their preparations for next year's Nations Cup finals with a friendly match against Tunisia eight days before their opening fixture. Friendlies in Harare against El Salvador and Zambia have also been confirmed, and there are plans for a brief training camp in England.
First division side Sheffield United, the club of Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu, may host Zimbabwe and play them in a friendly match.
Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) chief executive Ndumiso Gumede told this website that Zimbabwe will go into camp in Harare on 8 December.
On 21 December they will play Central Americans El Salvador, who have a world ranking of 93, some 45 places below Zimbabwe.
The squad will then break for the holiday season and re-group on 5 January, with a game against Zambia six days later.
The following day the team may leave for England, although what was initially expected to be a camp of more than a week is likely to last three or four days.
The Warriors will move on to Tunisia for a friendly match against the tournament hosts on 17 January.
Zimbabwe begin their Nations Cup campaign against Egypt on 25 January in Sfax.
In-fighting at Zifa had threatened to seriously affect Zimbabwe's preparations, and the team has not played any friendly matches since booking their first-ever appearance at the Nations Cup finals.
But the Warriors were kept busy by a winning run in the Cosafa Cup and the preliminary qualifier for the 2006 World Cup.
